FSCSD IS SAVING YOUR TAX DOLLARS

Feather Sound Community Services District (FSCSD) has been looking for ways to cut your property taxes, use your taxes dollars more efficiently and give all Feather Sound property owners a break in these challenging economic times.

Tax revenues collected during the period of rising home values have created a funding surplus for FSCSD. While some of these funds have been ear-marked for future capital improvements to our community green spaces and recreation facilities there are sufficient reserves available to reduce the current millage rate.  The FSCSD millage rate has therefore been reduced from .8928 to .5660:  a 37% reduction from the prior year. Property owners reviewing their tax assessments will note that the taxing district was only one of two taxing authorities that lowered millage rates for the coming year.

FSCSD recently requested an audit of its electric and water bills by UtilitySavers, a company specializing in this type of review. A saving of $9,250 over five years was identified and will be a reduction in on-going costs.

Finally, we will be saving administrative expenses by posting the Annual Report to Residents on www.feathersound.org in lieu of distributing statements by mail. This is not only a savings on printing and postage of $15,000 over five years but the statements will now be conveniently available on the website for the current and prior years at anytime.
